A Closer Look With- Yvette

What’s the best thing to happen to you this year?
Our daughter and son-in-law finally made the leap and moved to Austin. First time in 14 years we’ve lived in the same city. It’s so wonderful!

What do you need more of?
Time!

Karaoke: yes or no?
Only after a couple of drinks…and with a group. No solos!

What is a question you hate to ask?
I hate to ask for help.

What do you need to learn to make time for?
That’s easy… myself.

What was something you dreaded doing that you ended up loving?
Long distance running. I used to hate running, but now hate when I don’t get to run!

What do  you do when you’re stuck in traffic?
Turn up the music!

What aroma or smell makes you feel alive?
The smell of rain.

What TV show(s) have you binged watched?
Honestly, the only one is Game of Thrones.

What would be your dream car?
Any car that doesn’t end up in the shop every couple of months like mine does! =(

What’s something you recently learned about yourself?
I really am a crazy cat lady. I guess 6 is too many!

What’s the best thing to happen to you this year?
My husband and I will welcome our first child this year. I’m not sure anything can top that!

What do you need more of?
Calcium, which is my go-to excuse for eating ice cream.

Karaoke: yes or no?
An emphatic YES. My go-to songs are typically Prince songs, but if my voice isn’t feeling 100%, I’ll go with “Brass in Pocket” by The Pretenders.

What is a question you hate to ask?
I hate having to ask people a second time for their name.

What do you need to learn to make time for?
Doing nothing. I have a hard time sitting still.

What was something you dreaded doing that you ended up loving?
Reading the fine print. I ended up essentially doing it for a living. =)

What do you do when you’re stuck in traffic?
Argue with podcasters. Invent backstories for passersby. Think about what I’m going to eat next.

What are most people afraid of that doesn’t scare you?
Getting older. I feel more like myself every year that goes by.

What type of contest do you think would be fun to judge?
Some sort of cooking competition. (e.g., Top Chef). Think of all the amazing food you would get to try!

If the world had an apocalypse, could you hunt for your own food?
It’s a good thing I’m a vegetarian, because I definitely could not hunt for my own food. I guess I’ll be eating grass.
