Tell us about your family.
My sister and I grew up in San Antonio. My mother was an elementary school PE teacher and my father was a college Psychology professor. I’m not sure what alchemy made that work, but here I am. I live in Austin with my wife, Toni, who works in the legal field, and our 9-year-old twins, Kate and Brian. I’ve learned that with twins, everything happens all at the same time…

When I was “little”, I thought I would grow up to be…
James Bond. I wanted the cool gadgets, to be smarter than the bad guys, get to go cool places, and of course there were the pretty girls.

Best concert ever?
That’s easy. Bruce Springsteen. If you’ve been, you know.

What’s one goal you’d like to accomplish in your lifetime?
See my kids grow into happy, reasonable adults.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the fall?
Go to the beach in the fall when there’s no one there.

Name 3 things you always carry with you.
Cash, a pocket knife (thanks grandpa), and my phone.

What part of your daily routine do you enjoy the most?
Morning hugs and tucking my kids in at night. Yes, I still tuck in my 9-year-olds.

If you could bring one musician back from the dead, who would it be and why?
John Lennon. I think if he was still with us, he might have continued to have a very positive influence on how people see the world.

Who was your celebrity crush growing up?
I’m gonna go with all of the original Charlie’s Angels cast.

You’ve been given the task of giving a ten minute speech to high school students — what would you tell them?
Try not to let the world tell you who you are.
