A Closer Look With — Laura Ochoa

What’s the best thing to happen to you this year?
I got married right at the beginning of the pandemic, so I would have to say that, and enjoying my large extended family and stepkids has been a huge blessing.

What TV shows have you binge watched?
I hate to admit it, but I really enjoy reality dramas — everything from Hoarders to Real Housewives. Of course, I love Friends, Seinfeld, and the original Roseanne.

What do you need to learn to make time for?
I need to make more time for my hobbies — piano and writing.

What trap do you keep falling victim to?
Taking on unnecessary guilt.

What do you need more of?
Sleep!

What is your most used phrase?
Spelling out my email address.  =)

What’s something new you recently learned about yourself?
That I am pretty good at fishing.

Karaoke: yes or no?
YES!!!!!

What would be your dream car?
I’m looking into getting a Jeep Rubicon. I’ve always wanted one.

If the world had an apocalypse, could you hunt for your own food?
I can fish for food. I’m not sure I could hunt, but hey in those situations you have to do what you have to do!

What was something you dreaded doing that you ended up loving?
As I child I hated roller coasters. I love them now!!

What aroma or smell makes you feel alive?
Cedar trees.

What TV show really annoys you?
Lately the news has been a challenge to watch. I have to limit how much I watch.

What type of contest do you think it would be fun to judge?
I was a music kid in school, so I would love to judge a choir competition.

What do you do when you’re stuck in traffic?
I turn up my Broadway tunes and sing at the top of my lungs! I am probably that person you see dancing if it’s a really good song.
